Partnering continues to develop Majuba TVET College Students

Mr D. Mohan (Acting Assistant Director: Work Integrated Learning Unit), delivered the opening and welcome during the Bank SETA Induction which was held at the Newcastle Training Centre Hall.
40 Financial Management students from Majuba TVET College were selected to be placed at Ithala Bank to receive training over an 18-month period. These students are to receive a monthly stipend from Bank SETA during this period.
Mr Deepak Mohan (Acting Assistant Director: WIL Unit), welcomed everyone on behalf of Mr. S. J. Mlotshwa (College Principal) and advised the students to be committed in their workplace and to represent the College well. “We have a very good relationship with Bank SETA and Ithala Bank, and we want to keep it that way, so be good and make sure you do not mess up the opportunity for others to come,” said Mr Mohan. He further congratulated the students for studying hard and completing N6.
Miss Busi Bhudulwayo, a representative from Bank SETA gave a presentation regarding the contract agreement. Miss Bhudulwayo emphasized that the experience they will receive in their workplace is relevant to what they studied, with Ithala Bank as their host employer.
Mr. Skhona Mthembu, a representative from Ithala Bank also welcomed the students and congratulated them for the opportunity they have been presented with. Mr Mthembu said he is happy to be welcoming this group of students in the Ithala Bank family.
This initiative forms part of the Department of Higher Education and Training’s strategy and quest to turn every workplace into a training space.
