College honours lecturers for outstanding achievements in teaching and learning

Dundee Technology Centre Campus lecturers performed exceptionally well and scooped many of the awards at the Lecturer Awards Ceremony. They also won the Best Performing Campus Award.
Majuba TVET College Lecturer Awards was the highest accolade awarded to lecturers who had a positive academic influence on teaching and learning activities in 2018. The awards function, which took place recently, also served as recognition for excellent teaching and learning in the classrooms at the College.
This prestigious event took centre stage at The Pines in Newcastle where all 213 guests arrived in style and elegantly dressed. In attendance was Senior Managers, Lecturers from all 7 campuses, representatives from Quality Council for Trades and Occupation (QCTO), and Macmillan Publishers. Guest Speaker Mr. V. Naidoo (Chief Executive Officer from QCTO) in his address touched on the topic of the 4th Industrial Revolution and placed emphasis on how TVET Colleges’ should up-skill themselves in order to adequately meet the needs of our educational system.
The event served as an encouragement for lecturers who were being awarded and recognised for their extra efforts that were placed into their teaching and learning activities. The Top 7 Lecturers who excelled in teaching and learning were: Mr. B.E Magubane (NCV: Business), Miss N. P. Ngcobo (Report 191: Business), Miss. N. S. Mhlongo (NCV: Engineering), Mr. L. A. Hlatshwayo (Report 191: Engineering), Miss. P. Shabalala (NCV: Business), Mr. V. R. Ramdhani (NCV: Engineering) and Mr. R. Manisunker (Report 191: Engineering).
Mr. Lindelani Mchunu (Assistant Director: Curriculum) who was leading the organising committee of this event said that, “He was very impressed with the attendance and was pleased to see lecturers being celebrated for their hard work and dedication. I believe it is important to recognise the good performance of the lecturers to enforce good culture of teaching and learning.”
Mr. Mchunu further stated that he still cannot believe the support the committee got from the Senior Management in making sure that the event was a remarkable success. “We also place on record a very special and huge thank you to the Curriculum Department, Academic Representatives, Quality Department and all the sponsors: ABSA, Cengage, Colourtech, Future Managers, MacMillan Publishers, Net- Learn, Student Hub, Toots Coaches and Trevor Smith Sport and Shutter and Shooter who have contributed towards the success of this event,” Mr. Mchunu concluded.
