Majuba TVET College is proud to announce that it has been recognised by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as the Centre of Specialisation for Boilermaking in the KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The Centre of Specialisation model sets out to further motivate industry stakeholders and employers across both the public and private sectors to partner with TVET Colleges to build a quality apprenticeship system.  Through these partnerships and the quality of vocational education and training provided, the DHET hopes that society’s confidence in the TVET sector will grow and they will become both institutions of choice for students and partners of choice in training for industry employers.

The official launch of the Centre of Specialisation Roadshow took place at the Newcastle Training Centre Hall. The Roadshow was attended by prominent guests such as DHET Officials, Council and Management of Majuba TVET College, representatives from the various SETA’s as well as influential stakeholders from Industry. The Roadshow got underway with a warm and heartfelt welcome by Mr. S.J. Mlotshwa (Principal of Majuba TVET College). Representatives from the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) briefed the attendees on what DHET expects to achieve with these Centre of Specialisation projects.

Mr. S. J. Mlotshwa, lauded the staff of the College for their role in this prestigious achievement.  “Our success is based on the invaluable efforts of all our staff.  Each staff member plays a critical role in the development of our students, and their efforts are evident in the success rate we achieve in not only the academic field, but also in the development of work-ready, employable graduates who are sought after by industry. We have invested tremendous time and effort into building strong relationships with industry partners, not only to ensure that our curriculum delivery meets the needs of industry, but to capacitate our students and enable a higher rate of employment amongst our graduates.  We wish to also extend our appreciation to our College Council, the leadership of the DHET, our industry partners and all other stakeholders who encourage us to continue inspiring minds”, he said.

The Roadshow concluded with Majuba TVET College committing themselves to the Centre of Specialisation project with the future goal in mind of becoming the leading Centre of Excellence in Boilermaking. #CentreOfSpecialisation2018 #DHET #MajubaTVETCollege #Boilermaking #ArtisanDevelopment
